A Nerd's Advice

2019-02-12
| By Sarina Khadka

If you are a person who tends to read more books, then you might have been called ‘a nerd' or ‘bookish'. But trust me, that's totally fine because nerd is in the trend right now. Being a reader has so many benefits that you may not be aware of. It is said that, “Reading is to the Mind what Exercise is to the Body.” Meaning that reading is an exercise for your mind! Have you ever tried to meditate or do yoga just to stay focused or concentrated? Well, why not grab a book and read it? Sounds fun, right? When you read a book you stay more focused and concentrated. You forget about the world and completely engrossed in the story.

From time to time, we want/need to take a break from the world. As much fun as it is to be in this world, sometimes it is exhausting. Sometimes we just want to completely leave behind the world and live a new life, even if it is just for a fleeting moment. Well, why not grab a book and read it? You don't need to buy a plane ticket and travel to another corner of the world just to take a break from your busy life. Reading helps just as much as travelling. You can enter the world of the story. A different world. A better world. A world that takes your stress away.

It is said that a reader lives a thousand lives before he dies, but a person who doesn't read lives only one. It is shown in the studies that reading is one of the best practices of relaxation. Also, reading can improve your vocabulary and grammar. When you start reading you understand that even sentences like “All the faith he had had had had no effect on the outcome of his life.” Makes perfect sense. Cool, isn't it? Writing comes from reading. So, the more you read, the more you learn and the more you can improve your writing skills.

There are other benefits to reading I could name. But why don't you find it out on your own by reading more books? Take this nerd's advice. I can promise you, you won't regret it.

We value every student in our care and it is our aim to provide quality education with the best environment possible.
