We recently had a wonderful celebration of Kukur Tihar at Everest School, involving all students and teachers. The program was filled with various activities and events centered around our beloved dogs.
We started the celebration with a captivating puppet show that entertained everyone and showcased the special bond between humans and dogs. Following that, we had a dog obedience and agility show, where our talented four-legged friends demonstrated their skills and agility, leaving everyone amazed.
During the panel discussion, the students discussed the current condition and challenges faced by street dogs. They unanimously agreed that all street dogs should be provided with loving homes or shelters, and their population should gradually decrease each year until there are no more dogs living on the streets, struggling for survival. This discussion ignited meaningful conversations among the students and teachers, creating awareness about the importance of showing compassion towards these animals.
During the event, several students delivered heartfelt speeches about street dogs, sharing their personal experiences and stories. It was heartwarming to see the students express their love and concern for these animals, highlighting the bond between humans and dogs.
To showcase their affection for their own pets, students decorated boards with essays and photo collages of their beloved companions. These displays recognized and honoured the joy and happiness that pets bring into our lives.
Some students also shared emotional stories about their pets that have crossed the rainbow bridge. It was a touching moment as they remembered and honored their departed furry friends, cherishing the memories they shared together.
As part of the celebration, the students watched movies that emphasized the unbreakable bond between humans and dogs. These films served as a reminder of the unconditional love and loyalty that dogs offer.
Additionally, the students and teachers had the opportunity to learn about the journeys and stories of various dogs that the school has rescued. Meeting these rescued dogs in person provided a firsthand understanding of their resilience and the importance of providing them with a safe and loving home.
The students actively participated in the festivities by offering tika and garlands to the rescues, symbolizing respect and appreciation. They also showered the dogs with treats and affectionate pets, creating a joyful and memorable experience for everyone involved.
The program ended with a sincere commitment from everyone in attendance to do everything they can to assist in enhancing the well-being of both our community animals and our pet animals.
The Kukur Tihar celebration at Everest School was not only a time for festivities but also a chance for students and teachers to deepen their appreciation for dogs and promote compassion towards all animals. It was a truly remarkable event that highlighted the significance of our furry friends in our lives and the importance of their well-being.
